JUNIUS PONDS, N.Y., July 22 (UPI) — A tractor-trailer rear ended a bus carrying tourists near Waterloo Premium Outlets on the New York State Thruway, killing one and injuring 30, officials said.

Allstate Claims From Bronx Staged Crash
Allstate has received claims from a seemingly staged auto accident depicted in a surveillance video released by the New York City Police Department late Tuesday.
The incident occurred in the Bronx less than a year ago. On the same day, the New York State Senate passed a Staged Accident Bill that would make it a felony to intentionally cause a vehicle collision.
Krista Conte, New York spokesperson for Allstate Insurance Company, said: “We commend the NYPD for investigating this incident. “We applaud the New York State Senate for passing a bill that would make it a felony to stage an auto accident, and look forward to support from the New York State Assembly.
The legislation, sponsored by Senator James L. Seward, would be a deterrent for the criminals who prey on innocent motorists all in an effort to profit from insurance fraud. “Not only is no-fault fraud, or auto accident fraud, costing New York consumers and insurers hundreds of millions of dollars, it puts drivers at risk.
Those who would commit this type of crime are taking advantage of the broken no-fault system and are organized, calculating and part of a big business.
They are gaming the auto insurance system and the victims are honest, hard working New Yorkers. “Without the support of lawmakers, incidents of fraud will continue to increase and insurance costs will rise. Responsible citizens are the victims. Enacting meaningful reform of the no-fault system is an important way to fight this expensive and dangerous crime.
“The Allstate Corporation is the nation’s largest publicly held personal lines insurer. Widely known through the “You’re In Good Hands With Allstate®” slogan, Allstate is reinventing protection and retirement to help nearly 16 million households insure what they have today and better prepare for tomorrow.
On March 23, the New York State Senate passed a bill, sponsored by Sen. James Seward, meant to deter criminals who stage auto accidents in order to collect insurance payouts. A felony conviction now awaits those committing insurance fraud in this manner, a change applauded by the New York Insurance Association (NYIA).
Vehicle accidents involve: cars, trucks, buses and motorcycles.
Common causes include: reckless driving, badly-designed roads, inappropriate traffic control devices, and vehicle design or tire defects.
These accidents account for many substantial property damages and serious injuries.

Car Accident Sciatica: Free Advice: 800.535.5029
Years ago my brother was involved in car accident where he was the victim of a rear-end collision. The driver, a teenage girl, slammed into my brothers vehicle from behind.
Both the teenage driver and my brother were seriously injured. The young girl suffered severe head trauma and my brother suffered a lumbar sprain, cervical sprain and bulging disc. He was rushed to the hospital immediately.
My brother ended up accepting a small settlement for his injuries. Mind you this happened 20 years ago. The consequences in this case, is that his injuries never went away.
The courts and attorneys, then, did not have the information they have today regarding the long-term effects and disabilities a victim endures after such an accident.
Today my brother suffers from severe Sciatica (Sciatica is the term given to pain down the leg, which is caused by irritation of the main nerve into the leg, the sciatic nerve.) The sciatica was brought upon by the direct trauma of the impact caused by the car accident.
This is just an example of why a vehicle accident victims should ALWAYs speak to an attorney first, before ever speaking to any insurance company after a car crash. Car accident sciatica is a result of many vehicle collisions.
My brother excepted that pain and injury was to be expected after his serious car crash. However, what he didnt expect was that later in the years he would suffer the long term consequence of Sciatica.
Recently, statistics have shown that a majority of car crash victims do suffer disability and long-term health issues.
